Getting Started
Setting Up a New Domain
Follow these steps to configure email authentication from scratch:
Step 1: Check Current Status
Go to Security Dashboard and note:
- Current DMARC policy (likely "none" for new domains)
- Compliance rate (may be 0% initially without data)
Step 2: Wait for DMARC Reports
DMARC reports are sent by receiving mail servers. It typically takes 24-48 hours for the first reports to arrive after setting up your DMARC record.
Step 3: Review & Approve Sources
Once reports arrive, review sources on the SPF Management page:
- High confidence (70%+) - Safe to approve
- Moderate (40-69%) - Consider monitoring for 7 days
- Low confidence (<40%) - Investigate or reject
Step 4: Monitor Before Policy Upgrade
Wait until your compliance rate is stable at 95%+ before upgrading your DMARC policy
from p=none to p=quarantine.
Important
Don't rush policy upgrades. Wait for 30 days of stable metrics to avoid blocking legitimate email.
